In 4 months more than 170,000 people from 170 countries downloaded patterns and viewed this quick rough tutorial on how to make an isolation gown from Fashion Girls for Humanity (https://lnkd.in/g69gQsc), the disaster relief 100% volunteer nonprofit I started 9 years ago. I converted our spec to metric system responding to a request from The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine in Uganda, and I found that a team of seamstresses in Idaho sharing the pattern and making PPEs for Family Medicine Residency of Idaho. Now we included information about gowns for a larger size, patterns for Tyvek material or other non woven fabric. We also have resources on fabric, precut materials and trims for your production.
I am grateful and inspired by every one of you rising to the challenge and overcoming this unprecedented health crisis of our time. There are many things we can all do from home such as sharing our learning and offering skills to make an impact. As an entrepreneur and non-profit founder, I believe that fashion can make a social impact, including saving lives or helping front line medical workers save lives, and it’s our moment to do whatever we can. Thank you!
We are in this together. #getmeppe #gowns #makeimpact #masks

As of April 2020, CDC recommends as below
Contingency capacity: measures may change daily standard practices but may not have any significant impact on the care delivered to the patient or the safety of healthcare personnel (HCP). These practices may be used temporarily during periods of expected isolation gown shortages.
Shift gown use towards cloth isolation gowns.
Reusable (i.e., washable) gowns are typically made of polyester or polyester-cotton fabrics. Gowns made of these fabrics can be safely laundered according to routine procedures and reused. Care should be taken to ensure that HCP do not touch outer surfaces of the gown during care.
Crisis capacity: strategies that are not commensurate with standard U.S. standards of care. These measures, or a combination of these measures, may need to be considered during periods of known isolation gown shortages.
