Chengdu is a UNESCO City of Gastronomy, home of the giant panda, and the birthplace of Sichuan hotpot - but I wasn’t ready for how incredible this weekend would be.
After a work trip to Beijing, I flew to Chengdu for 48 hours to chase real Sichuan flavor.
What I found?
• The best spicy beef noodles I’ve ever tasted (from a shop I still can’t find)
• A hands-on Sichuan cooking class making Kung Pao, Mapo tofu, Dan Dan noodles & more
• Live seafood pulled straight from the tank
• Giant pandas up close
• Markets packed with chilies, spice, and surprises
This city now ranks in my Top 5 food destinations worldwide on my journey to experience 50 cuisines.
