Former Eskom Chief Executive Officer Andre de Ruyter says the bulk of the country's load shedding problems are beyond Eskom's scope. He says over the past 25 years, the main drivers that have led to the power crisis were out of Eskom's control. Over the weekend, De Ruyter deposed an affidavit as part of a court case launched by the United Democratic Movement and 17 others. In the affidavit, he outlines what he believes to be the cause of the rotational power cuts.
