Avengers: Endgame is just around the corner and we're all waiting with bated breath to discover which of the MCU's heroes is going to shine in the fightback against Thanos.

But could we be completely surprised in the epic Marvel Studios offering?

Could it be that the past vilains of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are actually going to be the wildcards when it comes to undoing the actions of the Mad Titan?

Some evidence seems to suggest so, which has resulted in this theory! Let's look at that evidence...

In some Avengers: Endgame set photos, the heroes of the MCU have travelled back to the Battle of New York - literally, right in the middle of it. If they only wanted to obtain the Tesseract, why didn't they travel to a point when it was in their possession? Maybe they want to recruit Loki and the Chitauri to their cause!

Then, in the Avengers: Endgame Super Bowl teaser, Clint Barton appears to be looking up at the Reality Stone - but he looks concerned. Could a threat be present? Malekith, perhaps? If so, why didn't he travel back to the point when the Warriors Three had it in their possession? Is he trying to recruit Malekith and the Dark Elves to the heroes' cause?!
