What Really Happened in Hamburg’s WWII Firestorm?

Описание: For 11 days in 1943 the city Hamburg was bombed relentlessly by the RAF and the US Army Air Force. Fire spread across the city until eventually a firestorm was created, the centre of which is thought to have reached 800°C. 34,000+ people were killed, 900,000 were made homeless. It was the first destruction of a major German city, and a sign of things to come.

Since I was travelling up to Hamburg I thought I’d do a guest video from my second favourite German city. Hamburg today is a wonderful place, and somewhere I wholeheartedly recommend visiting. It’s different to Berlin. A little cleaner, the people a good deal more cheerful. I admire the place, even if Berlin is home for me.
