I found this idea here:

You'll need:
A wooden spool, torn fabric lends this ornament a better look
Approximately 30'' or so of fabric, torn fabric lends this ornament a better look
Ribbon for a hanger
Glue
Leave about a six inch tag of fabric sticking up above the top of the spool. Start wrapping your fabric from the bottom of the spool, slightly scrunching the fabric as you work your way up around the spool, covering the piece you started with. When you get to the top, tie off the six inch piece with the end of your fabric piece into a knot. Knot again.
Take the ribbon you decided on as your hanger and cut approximately 10 inches or so of it. Fold it in half and start threading it up through the bottom of the spool. Place a strip of glue on either side of the bottom of the spool and lay the ends of the ribbon on it. My ribbon was thick, so I applied the glue on the ribbon and pulled it up into the bottom of the spool, allowing it to dry and adhere inside the spool. You can use a hot glue gun and do the same if you wish. Hang on your tree and enjoy!
Let me know if you would be interested in receiving one of these. I pull the name Tuesday.
