Testing Kyutai's new text-to-speech model with Python 3.12 to see if it lives up to the hype. I'm comparing both the MLX implementation for Apple Silicon and the PyTorch version to check performance, quality, and setup differences. We'll run through two test functions to benchmark how well each implementation handles voice synthesis locally, looking at speed, voice quality, and resource usage. No fluff, just straightforward testing to see which version works better and whether Kyutai's TTS is actually worth using for local voice applications.
