Описание: F-111E low level video from 1988 while assigned to the 55th Tactical Fighter Squadron at RAF Upper Heyford, UK. This was well before video editing with computers...this was made by connecting two video recorders plus a tape player for the music. Most of our low level flying was at 200'. This video contain some footage while using the TFR system (Terrain Following Radar) which we routinely used at night or in the weather and in the mountains. It was an incredible system for flying low altitude in any conditions. The F-111 had a bad reputation as a fighter, but after flying the F-16 too, I can say that the F-111 had better capabilities for night, low altitude flying plus it had a much better safety record. The speed in this video ranged from 480 to 540 knots at 200' or so... The video starts just off the coast of Newcastle and then low flying all the way to Loch Ness. Enjoy. There are not a lot of folks who had a video camera back then and if they did, they'd never take it in a jet with them. I was just a young Lt having fun. Our altitude and speed were legal back then. Of course, the RAF flew lower than us. The Vark was the Cadillac of low flying machines!
