EDDIE TORRES INTERVIEW
We met Eddie Torres at Salsorro International Congress 2010, and he honored us with an exclusive interview about his beginnings, the On2/On1 salsa/mambo issue, his mentor Tito Puente and... Daniel Castillo
This is a production of Alumnos y Seguidores de Daniel Castillo celebrating our 1st Anniversary. We were born with the mission to take the art, the passion when dancing and professional teaching work of Daniel Castillo to the world, because he is really one of a kind. We started saying that Daniel is the best kept secret of the salsa in Spain and Europe, maybe he still is, but we want to demonstrate you that not for those who really knows about salsa, and after one year we couldn't get better pleasure than show you this recognition in words of the most respected master, Eddie Torres.

EDDIE TORRES
Our respected Master of masters, Eddie Torres, learned from the Palladium best dancers, but they didn´t have concept of timing, technique or theory.
As a great performer he became Tito Puente's dancer from 1980, but his best attainment was to lay down the concepts of structure and technique raising salsa or mambo dancing to the point of a respected, classic art form for future generations , and respecting the traditions of the music and the dance.

DANIEL CASTILLO
Daniel Castillo has been teaching and learning latin dances for 15 years in several schools of Madrid and New York. He attended Eddie Torres classes for 6 years and he has been the most representative promoter of the On2 / Mambo Style in Spain and Europe since 2002. His trainning includes a deep background in classic ballet, flamenco, afrocuban, ballroom and other disciplines with masters as Alvin Alley, Carmen Roche, Antonio & Manuel Reyes, Martha Graham, Stacey Lopez, Tony Escartín, Angela Santos.

Esta es una producción de Alumnos y Seguidores de Daniel Castillo para celebrar nuestro 1er Aniversario. Nacimos con la misión de llevar al mundo el arte, la pasión bailando y la profesionalidad de Daniel Castillo como maestro, porque es realmente único. Empezamos diciendo que Daniel Castillo es el secreto mejor guardado de la salsa en España y Europa, quizá todavía lo sea, pero queremos demostraros que no es así para los que realmente saben de salsa, y después de un año de existencia no podemos tener mejor placer que mostraros este reconocimiento en palabras del más respetado de los maestros, Eddie Torres.

Nuestro respetado Maestro de maestros, Eddie Torres, aprendió de los grandes bailarines del Palladium, quienes no tenían conceptos del tiempo, técnica o teoría.

Como gran artista logró ser el Bailarín de Tito Puente en 1980, pero su mayor mérito fue establecer los conceptos de estructura y técnica que elevaron a la salsa o el mambo al punto de un arte clásico y respetable para las futuras generaciones respetando las tradiciones de la música y baile latino.

Daniel Castillo lleva 15 años enseñando y aprendiendo bailes latinos en escuelas de Madrid y Nueva York, ha sido alumno de Eddie Torres durante 6 años y ha sido el promotor más representativo del estilo On2 / Mambo en España y Europa desde 2002. Su formación incluye un intenso desarrollo de ballet clásico, flamenco, afrocubano, bailes de salón y otras disciplinas con maestros como Alvin Alley, Carmen Roche, Antonio & Manuel Reyes, Martha Graham, Stacey Lopez, Tony Escartín, Angela Santos.
