This sequence will help build immunity, lower the stress level, increase the energy level, alleviate respiratory and abdominal disorders, strengthen the lungs and increase the lung capacity, balance the hormones, improve thyroid function, and regulate blood pressure and blood sugar. It can be practised regularly as a preventive aid against Covid-19. It can be practised sitting in a chair or on a yoga mat on the floor.
If you are hard-pressed for time, you can include Kapalabhati, Bhastrika, Anuloma Viloma, Ujjayi and Bhramari in your daily routine to boost immunity. These breathing techniques can also be practised in case of mild symptoms of Covid-19 or as a recovery aid post infection.
Always listen to your body. Do not continue pranayama on a tired body. Avoid if you are sick. Practise on an empty stomach (at least 4 hours after the previous meal).
