TOMY Plarail Skarloey and blue coaches unboxing review and first run

Описание: Hi Guys and Gals I know I said i would do another BMM engine as my next video but I decided I wanted to upload this one first. I have filmed the yellow Rheneas vid and will upload it soon.


So here we have TOMY Skarloey, he is a narrow gauge engine meaning he doesn't run on the same width of rails as the bigger engines in reality and in the Thomas world but this toy runs on the rails just fine :p He comes with his own two blue coaches who look suspiciously like a repainted annie and clarabel (as many of these TM and Tomy coaches are), this engine unscrews from the underneath of the front and has the flat type drive unit running on 1x AA battery. The detail is decent with printed details like stripes and nameplates etc, the cab doorways are stickers and these are the only stickers on the whole engine. The side rods are fake and do not move with the wheels turning like they would in other engines in this range, reality and in the tv show etc.

Performance on the track was good he runs quite quickly and has enough power to pull himself and a small train around at a reasonable pace, the drive unit did make a bit of noise though. so on track performance was great and as was the turntable with no problems at all on its first ever try. when I first put the battery in it did not want to start for whatever reason (seized solid from transit etc) but a couple of taps on the engine freed it up enough to start and it has not done it since.

So in conclusion a decent engine but nothing really spectacular about it (this is my first fake side rod engine of this type), it runs well and looks pretty good and the coaches are a nice bonus.

I give it a score of 7/10 it should have working siderods I know they have been making these for years now and to retool this engine would be costly for no gain for the manufacturer but its the consumer that suffers. I have avoided this engine for quite a while due to this fact but seeing as i have other engines with fake side rods (Hank, Murdoch etc) I thought it was time to buy him and see what he was about.
