In this video, we detail the process of replacing the heater tees (Toyota Part Pipe, Water 87248-60460) on a 1998-2007 Toyota Land Cruiser or Lexus LX470 using a pair of cable hose clamp pliers. According to various forums, the consensus seems to be that these parts should be changed every 90,000 miles as preventative maintenance. Otherwise, they can become brittle over time, which could cause catastrophic results, such as a coolant leak or to allow pieces plastic to distribute through the cooling system. The total project cost about $25 for the parts and about an hour of your time.
