Описание: sloths also defecate only about once a week, and they risk their lives doing it. To poop, a sloth must climb down from its treetop home to the forest floor, which is terrifying because slow movement and predators are not friends. Scientists think this might be an evolved behavior to fertilize the base of the tree it lives in, which in turn helps the algae grow on its fur—a symbiotic relationship that provides camouflage. So basically, a sloth’s bathroom break is both a strategic oxygen-saving mission and a tree-nourishing operation.
