Hey, it’s Datu! I’m thrilled to finally share my short music film Crowded Places, now streaming online. The story follows a couple — Arthur (played by me) and Clea (played by Rya de Guzman) — as they carry the weight of regret through life and beyond.

This film offers a haunting new perspective on my song “Crowded Places.” A bit of background: even before recording the song, the idea for this short film came to me in a dream — just days after writing it. I saw a ghost and his lover dancing through an open field. I jumped out of bed, grabbed whatever I could find to draw on, and within an hour, the story, treatment, and screenplay were done. With the incredible direction of Maki Keel, we set out to explore the many faces of guilt and remorse, and I think we’ve brought that vision to life.

This song and story mean the world to me, and I’m beyond excited to finally share them with you.

Crowded Places has a touch of horror, a lot of camp, and a big piece of my heart.
