U.S. President Donald Trump particpated in a Shamrock Bowl event on March 14, where he was presented with a vase full of Irish shamrocks by Ireland Taoiseach Leo Varadkar.
Varadkar and his partner are in Washington as part of an annual trip ahead of St. Patrick’s Day.
Varadkar and his husband, Matt Barrett, joined Vice President Mike Pence at the Naval Observatory for a breakfast earlier on Thursday. The event displayed differences between the two countries, as Pence has been a vocal critic of LGBTQ rights.
