Pierre Alexandre Tremblay (b. 1975) is an international renown musician, composer, and performer who is involved in a variety of contemporary jazz and electroacoustic musical
contexts. During his studies in England, Tremblay was inspired by Louis Hamelin's book entitled La Rage. The book influenced the composition of his 50-minute solo La Rage, A reading of Louis Hamelin's novel, for free jazz drummer, eight-channel tape, and real time processing. The piece was premiered by his close friend, Stefan Schneider who is the drummer for the band [iks].

The composition features many various interactions between acoustic and computer-generated musical events. With a series of performance gestures, through written beats, and improvisations, the performer is in constant conflict with the machine that wishes to take over the sound space. While struggling to confront the machine, the performer must face varying power dynamics in the hopes to remain relevant and audible.
The composition was one of his most ambitious projects featuring an octophonic speaker setup surrounding the audience. In 2004, this piece illustrated that microphones may serve many different purposes other than their principal use of sound amplification.

La rage (rage)
ravished land, expropriated for flying steel;
ravished people, castrated of their identity;
youth wasted in seduction and hiding;
intelligence betrayed by a culture of beauty;
cynical for survival.
La rage (rabies)
tiny germ, destructive incubation, death by the drop;
… explosion, a cyst bursts, the pus of hate flows.
Death for survival.
