Dharamshala Student Death Case: FIR Names Students, Professor As UGC Orders Fact-Finding Probe

Police said there was no initial mention of sexual harassment, but clarified that all aspects, including this angle, are being examined as part of the probe. Amid growing outrage over the incident, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has taken cognisance of the matter. The UGC said the student’s death is being treated as a suicide while serious questions remain about the circumstances leading up to the incident. The commission announced that a fact-finding committee will be constituted to examine the case in detail. It also assured stringent action against those found guilty, stating that the safety of students remains its top priority.
