The Outer Hebrides - Untamed Uist & Beautiful Barra - Ep: 7

Описание: Continuing our Outer Hebridean adventure we hopped on our next ferry across to the Isle of North Uist.

We visited the Hebridean SmokeHouse, stocked with smoked fish, seafood, cheese, and condiments all made locally. We couldn’t help but indulge in some peat-smoked scallops to have later for tea. They were a real treat, sweet, smokey and delicious!

We headed to Baleshare Beach, where we stayed for a few nights on North Uist. What a spot we found, such beautiful back door views, sea air, and a stunning sunset. The stuff Vanlife dreams are made of.

The bikes were unleashed and we took them for our first spin….not very far as Meg's chain snapped.

After refilling our water container and collecting a few more food supplies we headed into South Uist.

Finding our next camp spot near Garrynomonie, another beautiful and remote beachside picnic area. We were lucky enough to capture another glorious sunset.

We then headed to the Isle of Barra and caught another short ferry across. We had booked 3 nights at Scurrival campsite to relax, shower and explore the island.

We had another technical mishap and manage to lose some footage of the first day or so here!
The only part we are really upset about losing was the videos we captured of a plane taking off from Barras Aiport Beach Runway. We were so close we nearly got sandblasted! It was so noisy it got our adrenaline pumping. If you visit Barra it is a must-see!

We spent our last night on Barra in a layby with a view, just outside Castlebay. We enjoyed dinner on the rocks next to the van. We will be catching the ferry back to the mainland early the next morning.

The Outer Hebrides have been an amazingly quiet, serene and relaxing experience. The bright turquoise and blue seas will stay in our memory for a long time.

How will bog-standard beaches ever compare to those we explored and camp next to? We will defiantly return!
