In the week leading up to International Women’s Day, we’re aiming to crowdfund $3M in loans to women. You choose who to support – helping a woman start or grow a business, go to school, access clean energy or invest in her community. Join us in reaching $3M in loans to women by March 8th!

With all the news headlines, it’s hard to know how any one of us can make a difference, but across the globe, women are taking a stand and making a change, and right now there is a way that individuals can take action and improve the lives of thousands of women.

Kiva and our global community of lenders understand the importance of supporting women, so, in this week leading up to International Women's Day, we aim to lend $3 million to fund women's dreams and needs around the world. As part of that effort, we are offering 10,000 new visitors to www.Kiva.org/InvestInHer the equivalent of $25 to lend to the woman of their choice, for free. They choose which woman they want to support – a woman starting or growing a business, going to school, accessing clean energy or investing in her community. It doesn’t cost them a thing, and they can be part of helping to achieve our overall $3 million goal! Will you share this message?

Impact:

At Kiva, we are constantly working to reach new countries and communities, with loans that better serve the needs of borrowers and their families. Kiva lenders crowdfund an average of $2.5 million in loans each week, creating a unique, renewable pool of funds that is reshaping access to financial services around the world.

Finances:

Kiva is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, based in California, with a 4 out of 4 star rating from Charity Navigator. Sustainability, transparency and efficiency are at the core of our work, our mission and our financial model.

100% of your loans go to borrowers. Kiva never takes a fee from lenders, which means 100% of the funds you lend on Kiva go to supporting borrowers’ loans. We also do not charge any interest or fees to borrowers or our Field Partners working on the ground in more than 80 countries.

Additional donations cover Kiva’s operating costs. Kiva covers operating costs primarily through the generosity of our lenders, who can choose to make donations in addition to loans. We cover more than two-thirds of our operating costs through these voluntary donations from Kiva lenders. The remainder of our costs are covered through grants and donations from foundations and supporters.

This model of fundraising helps promote sustainability, by keeping our fundraising costs low and tapping into the power of the crowd to help cover our costs.
