In an exclusive update, Joseph Osei-Owusu, Chairman of the NPP’s Presidential Elections Committee, says the party has worked closely with all candidates throughout the process to ensure fairness and transparency.

He revealed that rules were thoroughly discussed with every candidate, the register was compiled with full cooperation, and ballot papers were being printed with candidate representatives present. Security has been strengthened, with 70 to 150 police personnel expected at each polling station. Osei-Owusu also confirmed that all candidates assured him there were no threats and that the committee had completed its work satisfactorily.

The peace pact has been prepared for candidates to sign ahead of the election, and the committee is determined to ensure that no candidate has any reason to complain. Osei-Owusu emphasized that if anything compromises the integrity of the election, the committee will annul the results. He expressed confidence that the election will be free and fair.

On the campaign atmosphere, Osei-Owusu addressed the emotional toll of losing and said he would forgive Prof Frimpong-Boateng for his comments, while also warning against indecent language in politics. He urged party members to remain engaged and avoid complacency, citing lessons from the 2024 elections and the importance of avoiding overconfidence.

Osei-Owusu also shared broader political reflections, noting that the NDC showed unity in the last election and that the NPP must work harder to reconnect with voters. He urged the minority to position itself as a strong alternative, and criticized the government’s lack of visible policy implementation, stressing that economic improvement must be felt in everyday life.
