In this video we explore the famous lines of Imam Ahmad Raza Khan that beautifully summarize the balanced creed of Sunni Islam regarding the noble companions of the Prophet ﷺ.
The poetry:
“Farq-e-Maratib Be Shumaar
Haq Badast-e-Haider-e-Karrar
Muawiya Bhi Hamare Sardar
Ta’n Un Par Kar-e-Fujjar
RadiyAllahu Ta‘ala ‘Anhuma”
These powerful lines explain an important principle of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama‘ah:
All companions of the Prophet ﷺ are respected and honored, but their ranks are not equal.
Sunni scholars affirm the great virtues of Ali ibn Abi Talib, the courageous cousin and son-in-law of the Prophet ﷺ, while also maintaining respect and honor for Muawiya ibn Abi Sufyan, a companion of the Prophet, a scribe of revelation, and an important historical leader of the Muslim Ummah.
Today many debates on social media create confusion by attacking companions under different slogans. The teachings of Imam Ahmad Raza Khan remind Muslims to maintain justice, balance, and respect for both the Ahl al-Bayt and the Sahaba.
This video explains:
The meaning behind Ala Hazrat’s famous poetry
The Sunni principle regarding the companions
The balance between love for the Ahl al-Bayt and respect for the Sahaba
Why insulting the companions has always been condemned by Sunni scholars
Understanding this balance is essential for preserving unity and protecting the authentic creed of Sunni Islam.
