That Time Nimrod Tried To Fight God | Biblical Mysteries

Описание: Nimrod emerges from the early pages of Genesis with quite the formidable list of titles. He’s a mighty warrior, a mighty hunter, a mighty king it may as well be said, who had more than his fair share of kingdoms to rule over. Yet, this mightiness isn’t something that’s often looked upon favourably by traditional readers of the bible, no. This is someone who is far from exemplary, but rather someone whose strength and power set him down a path against the biblical God. Some interpretations further demonise him by referring to him as a giant - perhaps stemming from the Septuagint where Nimrod is referred to not as ‘mighty’, but in fact as a giant hunter, a giant warrior and a giant upon the earth. What’s significant about this is that it links Nimrod to beings that according to apocryphal texts, should have been already wiped out during the flood. Tradition ties Nimrod to Babel, to the first empire, and to the first great act of human resistance; the building of the infamous Tower. Although, it should be noted that the bible never actually credits Nimrod with being the architect of this ‘ungodly’ monument.
