We visit Portsea pier every year or so to weed the undaria. It is an invasive seaweed from south east Asia that displaces native species in Melbourne, Australia.
Undaria is found in many dishes and is typically the seaweed found in udon soup. I personally take the undaria home, freeze it and add it to soups and stir frys. It can also be used as a garden fertiliser.
We encourage everyone to take some when diving.
