Ruby Tetra Breeding Attempt- Misapplication of the online tutorial?

Time to update my Ruby Tetra breeding tank.
Yes, you may already know from the title that I still haven't made any progress.
But it doesn't mean I did nothing and just posted a video of the fish tank.
In the video, I mainly used a method from a website that my fish friend E.J. Brinegar suggested.
I did as the article on the website described:
The lights of the aquarium should be turned off, and the aquarium covered to prevent light from entering.
A day or two later, begin to allow slightly more light into the aquarium daily. Eventually, the pair will spawn.

However, the result was disappointing.
There's one thing I didn't follow strictly, which is to find a breeding pair that is highly engaged with each other.
Since I simply could not find a pair like that, I had to use group breeding.

Also, I may have been too hasty, because I kept checking for eggs every evening, even during those days when the tanks were covered.
Although it was during the night time when the fish were resting, it could have surely affected the success rate.

But then again, this project has been taking too long...
