Описание: The Lay Salvatorians in Sri Lanka are a branch of the Salvatorian Family (Society of the Divine Saviour), which also includes Salvatorian priests, brothers, and sisters. They work alongside the ordained and religious branches to advance the mission of founder Father Francis Mary of the Cross Jordan, focusing on apostolic work through various means. Structure and Growth: The Lay group was initiated in Sri Lanka approximately 25–26 years ago (as of 2024), starting with a small group of women, including former Salvatorian nuns and those who underwent formation. Membership: As of June 2024, there are around 100 members in Sri Lanka. Regional Presence: Members are active across four main regions: Negombo, Chilaw, Kurunegala, and Mannar. Mission and Activities: They are involved in social apostolates, including supporting the poor, visiting families in need, and working with Salvatorian nuns. In 2023, the Lay branch joined with the Salvatorian Fathers and Sisters for a joint gathering in Chilaw to coordinate their apostolic efforts. Relationship with Other Branches: They are considered a "great strength" to the limited number of Salvatorian nuns in the country.
