Introduction to Breast Cancer: Staging Updates

Описание: In this video, Dr. Chagpar explains the new breast cancer staging model that will go into effect in January 2018 according to the eight edition of the American Joint Commission of Cancer (AJCC).
 
The new system builds upon the long-standing tumor, lymph node, and metastasis (TNM) classification to include biologic factors, such as tumor grade, proliferation rate, estrogen and progesterone receptor expression, human epidermal growth factor 2 (HER2) expression, and gene expression prognostic panels into the staging system.
 
These updates are expected to yield more accurate predictions of how breast cancer patients will fare.
