Below is a detailed explanation of the evolution of Indian Hiphop.

In 1990, Hip-Hop was introduced in India by Punjabi rapper Baba Sehgal (Harjeet Singh Sehgal). Later, Bohemia in 2002 provided Indian Hip-Hop with the spark it so badly needed. He contributed a lot towards desi Hip Hop scene.

Influenced by Bohemia’s popularity, a group of five individuals, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Lil Golu, Badshah, Raftaar, and Ikka, together known as “Mafia Mundeer”, came crashing into the Punjabi rap scene. In the early 2010s, Punjabi rappers tasted a lot of success as they swiftly rose to fame and started making songs for Bollywood.

Everyone knows that Hip-Hop is an art form which was born in the streets of Bronx, New York. It was revolutionized by the likes of Jay-Z and Nas. Inspired by these legends, our own gully boys - Naezy and Divine emerged from the streets of Mumbai. They promoted the street rap culture in India.

Currently, rap scene in India has came a long way. Many talented rappers like Karma, Kr$ma, Muhfaad, MC STAN, Emiway Bantai, Badshah, Raftaar, Prabh Deep, King, Dino James, Seedhe Maut, Naezy, J-Trix, Emzee Bella, Sidhu Moose Wala, Raga, Forty Seven, MC Altaf, Gully Gang artists, Kalamkaar record's artists, Bantai Records artists, etc. are doing great job in the Indian Hip Hop scene. Apart from thesw famous once, there is also a bunch of talented underground rap artists in India. So we can say that the future of Rap scene in India is very bright.
