24 Hours on Sinking Superferry | The Untold Story of Aeolos Kenteris

Описание: In this video I spend 24 hours on board Aeolos Kenteris, once the largest and fastest ferry in the world, now completely abandoned and sinking in a ship graveyard in Sicily. I saw this ferry on Google Earth in August of this year (2024) and went to check it out, having no idea of the history or reason for its abandonment. I was there for a few hours in September, posted a short on my channels, and it went viral, especially in Greece and was picked up by many major news networks. Only then did I realize what a big deal it was for Greece, and began reading up on its fascinating and tumultuous history. Since then it seems several other YouTubers have been out there and posted some epic videos, but I thought it would be a shame for it to become an influencer's playground, without sharing its story...

Facts, Figures, and Research:

I found as much information as I could, but it was difficult to answer certain questions given that many of the articles were nearing 20 years old. I didn't find the old footage of the ship until a few days after I had returned from filming, but I did my best to match them up. All older footage used is actual footage of Aeolos Kenteris from the early 2000s.

I would like to translate the rest of the entries in the Book of Impressions that I found in the bow of the ship, and eventually find the right person to give it to, since it does not belong to me. But I also didn't feel right leaving it there to be lost forever...so hopefully that will make itself clear soon enough. It would be cool if something could be done to rescue Aeolos Kenteris or at least recycle her, but the task is pretty daunting and may not be practical. Either way, I hope you enjoy this video!
