Heavy Vegetable - Spatula (Drum Cover)

Описание: My initial introduction to the music of Rob Crow and Heavy Vegetable came byway of a friend blowing my mind with a flawless lap-drum version of the song presented in this video. After all these years, something that still confounds me is how Manolo Turner has managed to remain practically unnoticed (and, uncelebrated) within the community of drummers I’ve met throughout my life. His patterns are weird, oddly balanced, and incredibly precise… every measure a total brain bender. He’s beyond impressive.

Internet speculation would have him working as a gardener following the dissolution of Heavy Vegetable, and I can’t imagine he’s not incredible at that as well. However, for anyone in the know, he popped up with another scorching contribution on the Other Men album 'Wake Up Swimming' in 2007, then again in 2019 on the Other album 'For The Purposes Of This Conversation.' Both Other Men and Other are post-Heavy Vegetable projects consisting of Manolo Turner, Rob Crow, and Travis Nelson which effectively reformed the aforementioned unit of HV, save for the inclusion of Elea Turner.

Heavy Vegetable isn't available on streaming services, but I highly recommend visiting them on Bandcamp where you'll find two incredible albums, ripe for the plucking.

Audio was recorded directly into Ableton byway of a Yamaha EAD10 electro-acoustic stereo microphone, and was modestly processed through Universal Audio's Sound City Studios plugin before hitting a degenerative saturation as well as another UA device to glue everything together (Studer A800 Tape Recorder). Track separation was handled by Moises.
