We are privileged to have two singers from the internationally acclaimed group Anúna - Andrea Delaney (soprano) and Rory Musgrave (bass).
Presented by some of Ireland's best-known musicians, these videos are aimed at children of primary school age, but because the National Opera House is fortunate to be working with such exceptional artists, all the family will enjoy these videos, and especially the enchanting sound of Anúna.
In this video, Andrea and Rory tell us lots of interesting facts about the voice - the oldest instrument of all, and an instrument that we can all play! And we'll also learn a little about singing as part of a vocal ensemble.
Have you any sopranos, altos, baritones, or basses living in your house?
Maybe run some auditions to find out who sings high and who sings low!!
Andrea Delaney has been a member of Anúna since 2013, and in that time has toured with the ensemble all over the world. She is a facilitator at the Anúna Summer School and is in much demand as both a singer and educator.
Rory Musgrave first joined Anúna in 2005. He was part of the first tours to Japan and China, recorded numerous albums, and has toured extensively in Europe. As well as his ongoing Anúna connection he now works as a freelance opera singer and is also a proud member of the male vocal group M'ANAM.
In 1987, Dublin composer Michael McGlynn founded Anúna. While most of the performers in Anúna come from the island of Ireland, the group's members are drawn from across the world. The music they perform is composed primarily by Michael McGlynn, and includes reconstructions of medieval song from Ireland and traditional arrangements. Anúna performs live with twelve singers and is equally at home in an amplified theatrical setting or an unamplified concert hall. While the group's atmospheric stage performance still enthrals listeners across the wold after over thirty years, it is the unique sound of the ensemble that continues to bring new audiences to Anúna.
The series was made possible by the generous donation of a National Opera House patron.
