In this interview, Tim Berners-Lee — the visionary who changed the course of human communication — reflects on the Web’s origin story, its unintended consequences, and the urgent need to reclaim its original purpose. From his childhood surrounded by early computing pioneers to the moment he gave the Web away for free, Tim’s journey is as extraordinary as the technology he created.

But has the Web lived up to its promise? Tim opens up about the unintended consequences of his creation, from the rise of addictive social media platforms to the unchecked growth of artificial intelligence. He shares his concerns about digital wellbeing, especially for younger generations, and reveals his latest mission: to empower people to reclaim control of their personal data and ensure the Web remains open and human-centered.
