The Hispanic Day Parade 2006 in New York City (since 1985) took place on Sunday, October 8, 2006. The 5th Avenue was closed from 44th Street to 72nd Street for the Parade. More than 500.000 of viewers and thousands of marchers from 21 countries took part.
Jose Leon, the president of the Parade Committee: "This glorious event celebrates the best of all the cultures and folkloric pride of all our Hispanic countries and those who now call New York City their home."
