In this video I go through the steps I take to install river rock tile on a shower floor. River rock is a popular type of tile used for shower floors; they are also called pebble floors. This is a sliced or shaved river rock, which means that the surface of the shower floor will be flat, other types of river rock are rounded and result in a bumpy floor. I first dry lay all my tile on the floor without cementing it down, this way I can fit everything in and take my time. Once it has been all cut in and the tiles around the drain are also cut to size, I remove the tile a section at a time and because this is a Schluter shower I use an unmodified thinset to install the tile. I will use a rubber float to beat the tile in and clean any excess thinset with a vinyl brash to make sure the grout lines are clean.
