Описание: Traditionally held on May 8th. Helston Flora Day is a relic of the ancient festival of Beltane. The Hal-an-Tow takes place early in the day at various locations within the town. Its exact meaning is now lost in the mists of time but it is evidently derived from a mystery play with references to invading Spaniards and including a noisy re-enactment of a deadly battle between the Devil himself and the Archangel Michael during which townsfolk clad in green and dressed as sticks rush through the streets banging tambourines and blowing shrill whistles.
