Generation Z (or Gen Z) is the demographic cohort succeeding Millennials and preceding Generation Alpha. Researchers and popular media use the mid to late 1990s as starting birth years and the early 2010s as ending birth years. Most members of Generation Z are children of Generation X. And now will 2025 we have the Generation Beta.
In this impactful session at Olives School, we explored one of the most pressing challenges faced by today’s generation — the growing influence of screens on our children’s minds, health, and character.
We discussed how excessive screen time affects physical health, brain development, and motor skills, and examined the alarming link between irregular social media use and the rise of violence, aggression, and moral decline among youth.
As Muslim parents, we reflected on how digital addiction challenges our values, relationships, and spiritual well-being, and shared practical steps to reclaim balance, rebuild real connections, and raise mindful, God-conscious children in a hyper-digital world.
