In March, 1955 a young woman refused to move to the segregated section of a bus in Montgomery, Alabama. Surprisingly, this was not Rosa Parks, but Claudette Colvin. Matthew Delmont, Director and professor in ASU's School for Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies, traces her odyssey into the annals of the Civil Rights Movement. His insights illuminate the importance of black newspapers, which served as vital forerunners of today's social media activism.
