Cecile Vernochet, Ph.D., is Discovery Project Lead at Gates Medical Research Institute, a role she's held since 2020. She focuses on supporting scientific discoveries, program development and clinical trials for probiotic nutritional supplements in LMICs and advising on women's health product initiatives for the Gates Foundation. With over 20 years of experience in biological discovery research, Cecile's preclinical expertise spans stem cell biology to complex animal models for metabolic diseases such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, and NAFLD/NASH. In pharmaceutical field , she led a target discovery and validation laboratory at Pfizer, managing projects from preclinical stages through Phase 2B trials. Cecile earned her Bachelor's in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and a Ph.D. in Physiology from the University of Science, Nice, France. Her PhD research was supported by French National Agency against HIV. She extended her research expertise by completing post-doctoral fellowship at BUMC and Harvard affiliated Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston, USA.
