Last week, a friend of a friend stopped by with a trunkful of bike parts. He gave me some vintage and modern saddles, a couple vintage drop handlebars, some Shimano SPD clipless pedals, and as you see here, some wheels. These include a 700c Bike Nashbar double wall rim, an Araya 27 ¼ inch wheel, a 700c Saturae wheel, and the subject of this video, a 700c Mavic MA40 double wall wheel with a Specialized hub.
I decided to refurbish the Mavic MA40 rather than rebuild it, since it was in good condition other than the dry rotted tire. The process consisted of a thorough cleaning, and replacement of the old tire and inner tube. I now have a very nice vintage Mavic MA40 wheel ready for use.
