Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba says the provincial government's immediate priority during visits to flood-affected areas is to ensure displaced residents receive shelter and relief.
Ramathuba has acknowledged the role played by churches in providing temporary accommodation, saying their intervention has helped ease immediate pressure on affected communities.
She adds that further relief support is expected from several non-governmental organisations, including Gift of the Givers, with assistance set to include school uniforms for learners ahead of the reopening of schools.
The intervention follows severe flooding in Limpopo, which has also disrupted travel and tourism in the area.
