Mitutoyo dial calipers fix and clean and tips what to do and not to do.

Описание: Video adds IMPORTANT information about disassembly of dial calipers.DAMN the video clips are reversed and I cant fix it because I dont save the files. I usually do not watch the videos from beginning to end and I just spotted this morning they are reversed.. BY FAR the most important part of this video is to understand that because dial calipers do not use the micrometer principle of threads--the rack and gear mechanism gets crud in it and can read VERY bad at random places that you cannot locate--it can and will do it for years without you knowing it. Using gage blocks to check how good they are? means nothing only gives a false sense of security because when the gear hits the crud in the bottoms and along the flanks of the teeth you will have unknowns spots up and down your calipers that read off by .005 for example But if you use gage blocks only .020 away from that spot THE CALIPERS WILL READ PERFECT--its a very dangerous thing in a shop.. You cannot trace it the only solution is periodically TAKE OUT THE RACK AND CLEAN THE WHOLE THING. For years I had the mystery "ok these ones are newer and better but when I double check with these other calipers THIS SET SAYS .004 DIFFERENT!! so you check gage blocks AND BOTH PAIRS READ PERFECT... Now you know why dont trust calipers by themselves for real precision work because they use gears with dirt and chips in there.. Do not attempt to take apart the head dial mechanism you will regret it.. Also I will say this--when I put them back together I am a silicone man--I know about dust but I use a trace amount on my fingers and BARELY get a hint on the main sliding areas..
