The City's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) has quarterly meetings and training to stay up to date for serving the community. Newport Beach Police Officer Troy Zeeman was the presenter for the February 2019 meeting. Officer Zeeman spoke about active shooter scenarios and his direct experience at the Las Vegas Route 91 incident. He highlighted the Department of Homeland Security's recommendation to "Run. Hide. Fight."
