There's a handful of music from DKC2 that can go well with Pirate Ship, given the theming of Diddy's Kong Quest. Out of those, I chose Lockjaw's saga, because it has that tension to it that would enhance a Smash Bros fight, IMO.
Red Ridley is meant to be one of the Lockjaw enemies... And I didn't feel like having a team of two Diddy Kongs so I just gave yellow Inkling Girl the role of Dixie Kong :T
