The ESPN Pro Spectacular TV Series ran in 1983 in conjunction with the NBL, with seven rounds in Miami, Detroit, St Louis, Pittsburgh, Las Vegas, Los Angeles with the finals in Chicago.

Highlights include big wins by Eddy King, Brian Patterson & Stu Thompson with Greg Hill winning the final round and the overall title in Chicago. Greg won $7500 for the win and a Mustang car for the overall title, however he had to give it back 3 days later! The Chicago final round was unusual because each of the three mains involved two laps of the track each time!
