Well, this one is a very rare sight in this country. This is a US made Convertible dating from November 1974 as the rather groovy bag will confirm. I was lucky enough to acquire this one from a friend.
The story goes that in 1974, workers at the Hoover factory decided to strike, stopping production of all UK Hoover vacuums, thus Hoover had no alternative but to import american models instead, this being one of them. I believe this was the 1973 model year Convertible in the US converted to run on 240V rather than 110V. It's essentially similar to our Ranger models, with a full plastic hood over a metal chassis. It is bottom fill and takes type C US bags or H1 UK bags. both fit.
It's such a cool retro vacuum, I love the pattern on the bag!
