SRI's telemanipulation software integrated with Staubli robot arm

Описание: SRI has an enduring legacy in the field of robotics. In 1995 SRI licensed it’s telemanipulation software to Intuitive Surgical, which became the foundation for the DaVinci surgical robot.

Since then, researchers at SRI have continued to optimize the system to work with today’s commercial robot arms, bringing high dexterity telemanipulation to a wide range of industries.

With SRI’s system a user is able to precisely operate a robotic arm from a remote location, without having to be in direct view of the hardware. The 3D camera system and advanced vision technology integrated with a VR headset allow the operator to manipulate the arm as if they were in the workspace together.

The system is sensitive and dexterous enough to safely handle fragile items such as glass test tubes. A clutching capability allows the operator to remain comfortable without losing any functionality of the arm's extended range of motion.

Small objects like pills can be easily picked up and placed wherever the operator intends, all from outside of the physical work space.

The side by side demonstration shows the smooth and natural movement of the system, conducted with an off-the-shelf controller. The operator freely moves in space and the arm mimics those gestures in three dimensions and real time. The software is compatible with third party robot arms and can integrate safety and collision controls according to specific customer needs.
