The Hualai River is a remarkable geological feature located in the Hexigten Grasslands of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, China. While its length stretches over 17 kilometers (about 10.5 miles) and its depth reaches up to 50 centimeters (around 20 inches), what truly sets it apart is its incredibly narrow width. On average, it's only about 15 centimeters (approximately 6 inches) wide, and at its most constricted points, it can shrink to a mere 4 centimeters (about 1.6 inches)!
Fed by underground springs, the narrowest river in the world maintains a continuous flow throughout the year, eventually emptying into Dalai Nur Lake. Chinese experts estimate that this extraordinary river has been carving its path through the Gongger Grasslands for at least 10,000 years. Despite some debate regarding its classification due to its extreme dimensions, Sungai Hualai exhibits all the essential characteristics of a river: a permanent water body, consistent flow, and a well-defined basin, solidifying its status as a true natural marvel.
