Captain Olivia Miley-Dyer worked for the United Nations in Cambodia and New York prior to joining Defence when she was appointed to the Australian Army in February 2017, commissioning in July 2018. Olivia’s Defence career spanned the 8th Combat Service Support Battalion as a Platoon Commander, deployment on Operation Bushfire Assist and many other operations. Olivia currently serves in HQ FORCOMDT Ops, working as the S03 Plans – Individual Training.
Captain Miley-Dyer competed in the 2025 Invictus Games, taking home the first gold medal for Australia and we are honoured to have her deliver the UNSW Canberra 2025 University Lecture.
