During the PCG-MARINA Forum on 05 March 2026, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), and Bangsamoro Maritime Industry Authority (BMARINA) reaffirmed the strict enforcement of maritime laws to ensure safety in domestic shipping operations.
The agencies emphasized that vessels without valid statutory certificates and documents will not be allowed to sail. Receipts, proof of filing, or pending applications will not be accepted as compliance.
The PCG will intensify safety enforcement and report non-compliant vessels to MARINA for appropriate action. MARINA will also strengthen measures against non-registration and colorum vessels, while BMARINA will implement transitional mechanisms to guide operators toward full compliance.
The agencies urged the local shipping industry to cooperate, stressing that maritime safety is a shared responsibility to protect lives at sea and uphold industry standards. | via Merrowen Andong
