This week, one of the most anticipated moments finally arrives - I knock through the tower wall to open up access to the future rooftop terrace. It’s messy, intense, and massively satisfying!

You’ll see the full process: drilling, grinding, hammering through thick stone walls, and finally breaking through to daylight. This job has transformed the tower, flooding it with light and giving the entire house a new sense of space and flow.

But that’s not all, my son and I put the rubble to good use as backfill for the rear garden terrace, I take delivery of essential supplies (soil pipe ducting, mesh, cement, and a beautiful pallet of handmade terracotta bricks), and I build a custom oversized temporary door to keep the villa secure until final plastering and rendering is done.

I also ask for your advice in this episode: should I keep the sharp square corners between the lounge and the tower, or round them off to improve the visual flow between the rooms?
