The latest Black Knight Mortgage Report reveals troubling trends, particularly in FHA and VA loans, which have seen delinquency increases of 74 and 80 basis points in 2024, respectively. Despite these warning signs, foreclosure activity remains muted due to extensive forbearance programs and loss mitigation efforts, with 70% of seriously delinquent loans still protected. The average U.S. homeowner holds $299,000 in equity, providing a buffer against foreclosures—but this doesn’t eliminate the growing risks in the housing market.
